Back From Beyond

The summer has hit, or at least the hot weather is here. With the up in temperature I get the feeling to go exploring, this past week I got back from New Orleans. New Orleans was so much fun we stayed at the house of a friend’s brother for a few days and did a whole lot of partying. After we left the city, and we went to a park and camped for five days, I love long term camping especially on land that I have never been, exploring the marsh wet lands of Louisiana. That state has some amazing low wet lands. But during the outing their was a lot of psychedelics and mind exploration and I have to say these medicines are meant to be done outside where you can feel connected with the Earth, and sweat buckets :) .

I got a lens for my Nikon D40 it is a 55-200mm lens and wanting to go and test it out I decided to make a trip to Mammoth Cave National Park on Friday, I had not gone to that park in such a lond time and forgot how pretty it is also, how hilly it is, I have to say it is not mountiness but lots of low level foot hills. I did not have a chance to enter the caves and plan on going on a day they are giving tour and enter the depths of the Earth. Mammoth Cave is the biggest cave system in the world and going down deep in the Earth is so exciting to me.

On Saturday I went to the Kentucky state capitol Frankfurt Kentucky and I have to say it is a city that you can really explore in a day. I don’t mean to be mean but there is really not that much to see, but what there is to see is nice. Check out some of the photos on flickr.

Jefferson Memorial Forest

On Saturday November 8th 2008 , me and  some friends went to Jefferson Memorial Forest. It was a lot of fun we went for a trail hike the trail we did was the McConnel (Yellow) Trail in the Paul Yost map location. The trail is a 5.4mile loop and the difficulty is listed as strenuous, and I tend to agree fully. The trail was very hilly and had me ascending and descending many hills, the hike in all took about 2:30hours. I highly recommend it, if you have a chance to get to Jefferson Memorial Forest, the one thing that would keep me from giving the trail a 5/5 would be that there was no water during the trail, but that was not to much of a damper. I would say that the best part of the trail was that at parts it seemed as if we where lost and off the trail and truly walking through a forest, and you have to love that. These pictures I took during the trail I hope you enjoy, they are links from my flickr.com, account. No need to host them if I don’t need to :) .

I did this drawing today to look at you, I am not very happy with it my patience was short and I went to fast during the drawing but it came out ok, hope you like it. I love drawing eyes and hands, maybe I will post some of my drawings of hands. I am also working on a women, but that will take a while I don’t draw many female or male forms, so I am not practiced at it. I like surrealism.
